I know that I had previously changed my booking patterns to account for the easy availability of day of departure upgrades at AMS, and I suspect I wasn’t the only one.
That could have easily been solved by making sure that GUC clear before mileage upgrades are possible. Its not rocket science… besides that I am positive that DL would prefer to receive 500EUR for an upgrade instead of a GUC burn, but I cannot proof or support that in any way.
