No dual citizenship

media is totally wrong. China do not recognize dual citizenship. You can have Chinese citizenship and US permant residency (green card holder) or vice versa.
If you are just average joe or tourist of US citizen, the risk for traveling to China is minimal. That is, it is much safer than on the 5th Avenue of NYC.
