Cathay Lounge Access

Edit: I think the OW "marketed and operated flight" applies only when you want to access a lounge that is operated by a different OW airline than the marketing/operating carrier. E.g. If lounge is operated by CX, and your ticket is sold by a different OW than CX, and your flight is operated by a non-OW airline, then you won't have lounge access.

In my understanding, as long as the lfight is marketed by CX (or KA), you will have access to CX lounges, regardless of who operates the flight. Now, if you want to get into the QF lounge in HKG, then they won't allow entry with a CX-marketed flight that is operated by VN.

I reiterate, that I do not know if CX has an agreement with VN for lounges in CX, but if they do, then that's good. What I do know is that generally most passengers on non-OW operated CX codeshare flights are not eligible to access the Cathay lounges, regardless of their status or travel class (unless you hold status with MPC), solely because of the departure flight not operated by OW, even with a CX code if no such prior reciprocal lounge agreement has been made.

if anyone wants to confirm the details of the agreement I suggest reaching out to CX for specifics. But yes, it does it exist.

I think it’s a reciprocal agreement because CX uses all of Vietnam Airlines’s lounges in Vietnam so it would make sense. I’m positive I’m correct on this, but others who are taking VN segments, or who know, please feel free to chime in.

While I respect everyone's opinions/experiences in the past, until people start flying the CX First to Vietnam Air CX codeshare, I think it is a bit of an unknown. We should start to get actual trip reports / lounge reports in the next few weeks.
