Hakone Ginyu is awesome. Great views, and great privacy. Gora Kadan falls short in the view department compared to many of the rooms in Ginyu.
I still find the food to be slightly higher quality at Gora Kadan, but that's really nitpicking since both offer amazing seasonal fare. You're going to have a great time.
Speaking of rykans... we're headed to Hanamurasaki (in Yamashiro Onsen) tomorrow; can't wait!

We've got confirmation for a night at Hakone Ginyu for July, looking forward to it very much. Emailed the Ryokan Collection and they told us that the place is currently their most popular in all of Japan/in their collection... And we got the last remaining Sora room (even though we were looking for Hoshi but we'll take what we can get!)
the property looks absolutely amazing.
Gonna put a reservation for Yama no Chaya in as well once its possible to book since it seems to only open up 6 months in advance
