I was in the same situation as you after last week's trip to PHX and I finished my mile run a two hours ago JFK-BOS in F - was $458, but I rode in front on the 328.
Fortunately I won't have to since I already have Xmas travel that will net me 2k EQM. That flight, even at peak holiday times cost ~$400 and the buyup would be more than 3x as much. That was more my surprise...
