The lounge agent was busy with another guest but was invited to take a seat and was asked for a drink. I chose a latte and as it was being served I was invited to check in.
I was delighted to be upgraded to a Executive Harbour view ( room 5609) and was able to go to the room straight away ( around 230pm).

and there was a welcome gift of coloured macaroons (no tea but I am not a great tea drinker).

The South China morning post was delivered daily in a black Conrad Newspaper bag
What? You were allowed to check-in in the Executive Lounge? With a booked Executive King Harbour View, we were not allowed to do it. Highly unhappy. I should have asked to talk to Mr. T. H.

What? You got macarons? We got nothing. The second night there was a nice card from Mr. T. H. in an envelope. I guess the night attendant delivering them ate the macarons....

We got the New York Times delivered to our room in that newspaper bag. At least that was good since it's my wife's favorite newspaper.

Question about the afternoon tea: what is that jelly thing on a spoon? a local delicacy? My wife tried cutting it but no success. Then she tried biting it but no success. Then she put the whole thing in her mouth. Nearly choked. Seeing that, I did not eat the one I had put in my dish.

It pays to look around the EL to see what they have. The last evening, on the other side, we found a plate of cheeses with a huge chunk of Parmesan cheese. Went well with the wine. And, no, we did not serve ourselves the whole chunk, we only took a little portion.

Both stays we were told about the possibility of having breakfast in both locations
