We prefer flying in and out of Ft Lauderdale (FLL) and in turn cruising out of Port Everglades which is the Ft Lauderdale cruise port. The other issue is that for years and years we cruised almost exclusively on Holland America that only used Port Everglades. Not every line uses both ports so that may be an issue or drive the decision. Certainly Miami International (MIA) is an option and people do fly in and out of there to catch cruises in either Miami or Ft Lauderdale. At least for us it didn’t make sense to fly into MIA and get some kind of transfer to Ft Lauderdale to catch a cruise out of Port Everglades which is only 15-20 minutes away from the airport. While neither airport get what I would call rave reviews it is my impression that Miami gets the worse reviews of the two.
