So, either Aeroplan issued a revenue ticket in Z, or the AC App has a "new feature"

If someone on an Aeroplan ticket shows up at the Signature Suite, claiming that the App said they are allowed in, but the rules say no, I'm guessing those poor concierges are going to have some challenges.

The rules are very clear about access.

Emphasis mine:
*Air Canada Signature Class customers travelling on an Air Canada-operated flight (to Europe, Asia and South America) originally booked and ticketed in the following booking classes will be eligible for access to the Air Canada Signature Suite: J, C, D, Z, P. All bookings in R (including, but not limited to, eUpgrades, Last-Minute Upgrades, AC Bid Upgrades) and I (including, but not limited to, Aeroplan® Fixed Mileage Flight Rewards® for travel on Air Canada flights or Star Alliance® member airlines, Star Alliance Upgrade Awards), as well as bookings made during irregular operations where the customer was not originally booked and confirmed in one of the eligible booking classes, will be excluded. Eligible customers may not invite guests. Access to the Air Canada Signature Suite is not available to customers travelling on promotional tickets or employees.
It wasn't originally booked in Z, it was originally booked in I. The IRROPS comment doesn't technically apply, but it makes their intent extremely clear. When you combine that with the "originally booked and ticketed" comment, I don't think they'd have any issue explaining a denial of entry.

That being said, I have no reason to believe their system is smart enough to look beyond the fare class.

Though I would not be surprised if AC IT messed up again.
Aeroplan tickets with AC-operated segments do not credit miles, regardless of fare class. That was fixed a loooooong time ago. I have flown numerous JCDZP segments on Aeroplan tickets, and attempted to fly with both my AC and UA numbers, as well as do retroactive credits to both programs, and it never works.

Non-AC segments on Aeroplan tickets, however...
