The lounge with its low ceiling offers industrial design and looks very grim at times.
This is a perfect option for the single traveler or couples. But, still, we don't like the suites at the Ren, not even their biggest "suite". Their suite setup is the only impediment to staying there as a family of 4. It is just a large room that lacks privacy.
I have been at the Ren when they have allowed either option, when they would only allow the CL and when the CL was closed for breakfast for a few weeks after the protests in the parking lot. The hotel was pretty empty and very inexpensive at the time. Of the Marriott options, their restaurant, Flavors, has the best buffet, hands down. It is fun once, but day after day being in the restaurant with so much food got old. A waiter I befriended who was there from Switzerland in a hotel management program eventually arranged that I could order room service breakfast for free which was a nice change.

I have been given a choice sometimes, too, and also prefer their CL for the same reasons. And you get the nice view for breakfast. One time the breakfast rate was less and the clerk, at check-in, was surprised to see I had a breakfast rate. One of those mornings I was eating in the restaurant while several military higher ups in uniforms were eating at a nearby table.
There is a rumor you are more likely to be allowed breakfast in the restaurant if your party includes kids.
