1) Take the aisle
2) Assuming you don't want to pay for Economy plus, you are not likely to be assigned to it if you select a seat
3) However, 24 hours before the flight, silver members can select economy plus for free, and some will. Their regular economy seats will open up, and you may be able to grab an aisle that's further forward. Also, as mentioned some seats are blocked until check in in order accommodate families, etc. Those may become available.
