I agree that the W-A is horrible for public transit, but there's no reason to stay near either train station. Basically, look for centrally located hotels on lines 2, 10, or 1. Ticket offices are ubiquitous so just focus on the hotel first. I agree with 889 that Suzhou makes more sense for such a short trip.
