Grab is around half the cost of an airport taxi. But you are very, very unlikely to find Penang airport's free internet working. So you'll need to buy a SIM card (MYR10 for the card +MYR10 for a week is about the minimum) which is a bit of a faff, or lurk outside Macdonald's trying to latch onto its internet.
You can add a credit card to your Grab account for payment.
Once you are connected Grab works a treat, and is very widely used on the island. Public transport isn't so hot. Though there
is a bus between the airport and Georgetown: takes about 1 hour and I think costs MYR3or 4.
