It is possible, but unlike CX, QF aren't bookable by AS if they aren't shown on AS as available. There are numerous reports of them being available to book via AA, but that's a considerable more amount of miles, and doesn't really apply to you anyways since you've come from UA (assuming you don't have a hidden stash of AAmiles sitting around).
