Time to report my own experience. On my most recent trip, I travelled through LAX, TPE and BKK.

LAX- no issue with digital UC membership card

BKK- required physical UC membership card

TPE- 50% required physical UC membership card; 50% ok with digital UC membership card.

All the lounges that demanded the physical membership cards only wanted to see the “star alliance logo” on the physical card.
