Newbie Question: Marriott Travel Package post merger
Hello everyone!
Since the merger, there has been so many posts on how terrible the new system & customer service is, especially if you're converting an old travel package certificate over to the new program. However, I can't seem to find a thread/post about whether the travel packages are a good way to use 300K+ points.
The backstory--I had saved about 350K points starting from 2015 to use on my delayed honeymoon (which got delayed by another year and half due to extenuating circumstances). Earlier this summer, I had everything planned and right when I was about to push the button, it happened to be August 19. Unfortunately, my plans were put on hold because I didn't know what to do. I hadn't already gotten a certificate, so I still have all my points sitting in my account.
Now, I've decided that I'll be taking my big 7-day trip (Il Ciecelo in Tuscany, Category 4) using my points, and I'm trying to see if it's worth it to bank the 110,000 miles (or 50,000 miles) at the cost of 330K or 255K points respectively. Or is it just better to keep my points as Marriott points for future trips (I stay in hotels somewhat rarely, and one concern is another devaluation happening to my points--but who's to say that it's not going to happen with airline points as well?)
Anyway, just wanted some thoughts--having a hard time deciding what to do. Thank you so much in advance, and I appreciate your patience, especially if this has been discussed in a thread that I was otherwise unable to find.
