The second pillow is for flights 12hrs or longer. Slippers are for Asian flights. If JFK-LHR took 13hrs, they'd get a second pillow also. If DL flew NRT-LHR, they'd get slippers. Nothing different from what multiple other airlines do on certain routes. Doesn't mean there's not a base standard that D1 is supposed to be. There can be pluses based on length/ O/D, just as there can be minuses. There's still a standard.
