Although I was not there, I did fly on Eva Air from SFO about two weeks ago; I was quite surprised that the check-in agent at the *G line spoke poor English + very mediocre Mandarin. I know that SF is a largely Cantonese destination, but really the experience was not "five star" for an airline that flies to a Mandarin-speaking hub.
From the bottom of my heart I support all parents building healthy families, but wonder whether this might actually be an incompetent agent hired by the wrong contracting company.
The old Hallmark aviation staff had great Cantonese, Vietnamese, and somewhat ok mandarin skills. Now that it is Pacific Aviation, it seems Tagalog is the only language available outside of English.
