I can't recall the last one I had between Singapore and Auckland, probably been at least 10 times, not really a big deal to me anyway.
I did used to get greeted fairly consistently on AKL-USA routes though, sounds logical that it's an optional thing & up to the specific FSM as to whether they do/don't do it.
