Poor service from the limo company indeed, although I don't think you can really be 'stranded' at DTW, you can always take a taxi.
Next time just give them the operating carrier flight number, that should be the one they need. I don't think this was your fault at all though, the limo company should have been able to figure this out. Thanks for posting, maybe someone can learn from your poor experience.
