J cabin is showing 5 across the board, but only 3-14 as booked on the upgrade list and Y is 3 in a few higher classes and Economy shows as full on the app. My math would indicate they must be oversold by at least 6 in Y, if there are 11 unsold seats in the cabin, but AC is only willing to sell 5. My conundrum is whether to burn e-ups or hope for the op-up as a 50K on a Confort fare. I think my chances are decent, as the preferred cabin was pretty open before OLCI opened, but i’ll be bitter if I don’t make the cut, and wait too long to use e-ups.
Any sage advice from the group? I’ll try and sweet talk the CSA to see where I am on the op up list, but this is YOW, so I don’t have high hopes of this being successful. I’d have much better luck at YYC.
If they gave you that information, you wouldn't use eUps (or LMU, etc.), and AC would miss out on potential revenue.

The way it'll work is this:
1. Process eUps
2. Fill up Y
3. Select Y to be moved to J, enough to fill up Y with all paying passengers
4. Process the J non rev
5. Process the Y non revs and J non revs that didn't make J
1 and 2 is automated, and processed 5 minutes after check in cut off time.
3 I think is a manual process, with the selectees picked by DCS based on the usual. I think this is manual because maybe misconnects etc. But at that point I think passengers that missed cut off time are unassigned their seats.
But the above is also why YBYL. The GA may only know very late that a CKIN passenger actually won't show up. And how you end up with empty J/Y seats.
4 and 5 I think is done automatically if no #3 .
There's a lot missing from that list. Where's revenue J standby?
But yes for YBYL. My most recent VDB resulted in the no-status low-Y GTE getting my J seat, because everyone else had boarded.

Are you sure that was "screwed with"? Are you sure a revenue SE in full Y has op-up priority over a C2/Y10 employee?
You have no entitlement to an op up. I know that I rank higher than a P25K, and I've had that confirmed by AC employees. But I've also asked about employees and operational upgrades, and while I've only talked to front-line employees about this (i.e. "I work at the airport" and "this benefits me"), they've all said employees are ahead of revenue for op-ups.
