I would like to visit QT and Wanaka again. Seems like Lake Pukaki and Mt. Cook are logical stopovers, as far as driving distances go.

Dunedin and Catlins seem like it would add driving times between Christchurch and QT/Wanaka.

Has anyone been to Dunedin and Catlins? Dunedin appears to be a larger town with Victorian architecture while Catlins has some rugged coastal areas?
