I think they are suggesting that sooner, rather than later, someone behind the wall at an airport is going to decide that they need that laptop more than the OP does, and that they won't have any recourse when it happens.

Kind of like what happened to a really nice bottle of Irish whiskey in one of my bags at JFK a few years ago.
