New "The Sapphire Lounge by The Club" at SAN
SAN recently opened a new Federal Inspection Station on the western side of Terminal 2. As part of that construction, an additional ~10,000 square feet of space became available for a new lounge. It looks like the Airport Authority signed a lease with TAV America (whose parent company operates primeclass lounges in other countries) back in April (pages 165-172 of the April 2018 meeting minutes). The fact that other primeclass lounges are on Priority Pass also probably explains why SAN suddenly started showing up on the PP website recently.
As for opening date, pages 166-172 of the most recent board meeting agenda indicates that the space will be available in two phases: ~6,700 square feet in September 2018 and the remainder in July 2019. I don't know if that means the lounge will be opening in September or if TAV will be able to commence construction on those dates.
BTW it looks like PP was proposing to build The Club @ SAN using ~6,2000 square feet of that space but of course, that bid lost out to TAV's.
