This. UA canceled seven flights between LGA and ORD today. I realize it is too late now, but had the OP gone to EWR, he could have made UA3425 EWR-PIT and UA1574, PIT-ORD.
Weather completely shut-down EWR a few years ago and I absolutely had to be in Chicago the next morning, so I rented a car at noon and drove. I got to my hotel in Chicago before 11 PM, and made my meeting the next morning, no problem.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
