Reading the terms says the diamond is applied automatically and is applied to the person who was gifted gold so I would just have them gift the gold to you. Not sure if having gold will make any difference with it going through otherwise it would need to be done manually and I find the phone staff can vary greatly in their knowledge to get things done.
