Though I am bit of a knuckle dragger, I have moved from living under a rock to living in a rock. More day light but still damp at times.
I do not find the GA announcements to be annoying, especially as I do not hear for
every flight. In fact, I have heard it once this year. Actually yesterday, because 1) the flight was full and 2) the flight was late. As such, one should remember that the GA have a job to do, namely get the flight out on time. Checking a bag when they do not think it will be needed is a distraction for them getting the flight out on time.
FWIW the announcement I get tired of hearing is the one be the FA telling people how to store their carry on. Many just toss their carry on in the bin and sit down with no regard that a little forethought might make it easy for the next PAX to store their carry on. Like the two pilots deadheading on one of my last flights. I just shoved their crap together to make room for my carry on.
