As an aside, trying to get AQM/AQD/AQS from a diverted flight in May revealed that the Altitude AQD-counter is driven by the Aeroplan AQM/AQS-counters. I could not get AQD recognition for the diverted flight until Aeroplan AQM/AQS bookkeeping was corrected. The problem was that AC was refusing to give Aeroplan approval for the diverted flight, so I was caught between the two.
Exactly right.
Further, I understand that every 2 weeks or so, Aeroplan provides AC with a list of those who have passed 1MM, for eg. So in theory, AC has no way of knowing in advance when someone will cross, let alone the day of.
