Every meeting I've booked this way, the property has known about rewarding events and I've always received my points/nights towards elite status. 100%. All you have to do is confirm your Marriott Rewards # when they reach out to you about paperwork/event details. The only difference is some properties post immediately, others take up to 10 days. I've shown up for some meetings, and missed others. No difference, as others have said no one checks if you're actually using the room.
