My guess is that converting 32 rooms to 16 suites is not going to fix their fundamental issues. No golf course, no history, no views, and then there's that entrance off the strip mall parking lot.
Agreed; room size changes are start, but what about a golf course, offering more dining options, small pools (both), etc? LOL The design is too spartan for my taste. My guess is that Hyatt thought it identified a niche market for a boutique-ish property in Scottsdale, but this was a big swing and a miss. To be fair though, the staff IME were excellent and very helpful and food was enjoyable.
For Scottsdale though, I'll take the Phoenician or the Fairmont or FS for non-points earning/redeeming.
