That's an interesting thought. The 787 was initially called the 7E7.
If we were to do letters, then the 787 should've been called the 7H7. It's good that 797 is available, because 7I7 might cause some confusion. Fortunately, the next iteration after the 797 could be called the 7J7; although we'd run into the issue again six iterations later with the 7O7.
