You didn't mention the IHG application on this thread--that's a big detail to leave out. I agree that the Ritz trick was probably at most a small contributing factor in your case, but it should have been mentioned too. If we're going to crowdsource info in threads like this, lay it all out there and let history decide why you got shut down. Leaving out details because you don't think they matter isn't helpful.
I didn't give all the details because I clearly mentioned that I gave more details in the reddit megathread. It wasn't because I was trying to hide something or whatever, just laziness. Crowdsourcing of info is happening there much better. Here is mostly discussion.
In the reddit megathread I clearly say that the IHG application was the trigger. Note that my SO did get shutdown 4-5 days after me, and for him there were no applications, the only trigger is that I was shutdown and he's an auth user on my cards. Again, more details in reddit thread.
