I like cool too, but don't really care much during the day. Villa was never hot, just not as cool as it could be. During the day that is - once the sun went down, it was plenty cool in the villa.
But I agree this is odd for a new resort. And during our time there we were in two different villas - both of which had the same A/C behavior.
