This isn't a Delta thing - none of the CC providers or SPG would ever reverse this, whether the transfer was to Delta or someone else.

It's the inherent risk carried in these transactions and one of the reasons the partners that offer instant transfer are so valuable (and AMEX --> DL has always been an instant transfer for me so should've been here too).
