This is the flight between a back-to-back trip, (I'm travelling to the states, then traveling in Europe starting in BRU, I am based in LON)

Any information about how it could be done would be welcomed. If it matters I have Oneworld ruby, so I would be able to use business check-in.

It should be no problem given that your connecting flight isn't until the following day. Just tell the check-in agent at JFK to make sure the bags are tagged just to LHR, easy as that.
