No, it’s not, actually, as direct flights can include stops; nonstops are, well, nonstop.
(AA 48 was marketed as a
direct flight: SFO-DFW-ZRH. At DFW changes of aircraft and terminals were generally required. Mileage and segment credit was accrued as if AA 48 was a
nonstop flight; it wasn’t.)
