This is incorrect. That’s not what term 8.3 says - it refers to current membership year (not card expiry date) + one further membership year.
But agree the sensible thing is to wait until after current card’s expiry date, then perform the status upgrade - so the gifter doesn’t have to deal with manually contacting GGL to rollover the status for another year (as it’s unlikely to happen automatically).
