They also only look at availability 3-7 months out, so programs that dump their awards at beginning of schedule or release close in could compare unfavorably against programs that dole it out throughout or release during that period.

A number of those busiest long haul and busiest medium haul routes for the majors are going to be hub-hub routes where frequencies (and opportunities for awards) are going to be higher, particularly at unpopular times of day.
