I don't think the current situation will come anywhere close to that point, but then again, China has repeatedly behaved irrationally (at least to us in the West) in regard to our economic, political, and military relationships with Taiwan.
I am curious how profitable SFO-TPE route is for United (even with 777-300ER)? EVA has three daily SFO-TPE flights starting this summer but EVA offers connections to Southeastern Asia. Could UA just drop SFO-TPE for business reasons?
