I'm not predicting different programs or different benefits, just saying that if one wants to qualify for any status based on rules (SPG or MR) from the existing legacy SPG and MR programs, I would be extremely cautious about merging the accounts first. YMMV, but we haven't yet seen any statement of the benefits to us that will come when accounts are merged and be withheld unless/until the person decides to actually take the step of merging the accounts. Assuming that the merging of accounts will be optional in the interim, I wouldn't rush to blindly merge accounts without first understanding the consequences of doing so.
