I think that's a slightly creative definition of "devaluation". The schemes were only temporarily matched in that way, and was always an interim solution. Previously it took 75 nights with Marriott to get United Silver, now with Starriott it will take... also 75 nights.
Definitely a devaluation............As an SPG Plat I received benefits with Delta - now gone! I received UA benefits then with Marriott - now gone!
How is this not a devaluation? I am still Plat and having no benefits now with either carrier.
