As reported above, I flew Aeroflot in Y, with the family, and I think it is a fine alternative for cheaper fares from US to Europe. And I say that with more than 2 million BIS miles of experience, and being tall. Their biggest problem is very long layovers but: a) the capsule hotel at the airport is okay if you don't have a VISA; b) on the way back we took a day (2 nights) in Moscow and really enjoyed our visit.
