Plus, you basically have to go across the street (from the terminal) to baggage claim, then schlep the bag back across the same street to check in for BA ... and most likely at a different terminal. Huge hassle.
Suggestions:
- Try to go carry-on only
- Try to cajole the AAgents at your origin to check the bag all the way through. (It is probably a losing battle)
- Hope the incoming flight is early.
