I'm thinking of arriving in the evening, taking a day trip to the Argentinian side (is there a bus that takes you on the other side? does it take hours? can I return in one day) and then having another day for the Brazilian side. Would it work even though it's tightly packed?
edit: I've read the topic about the flights being diverted to IGU and the fact you don't need a visa. But I'm only reading there's a bus going to the city of Puerto Iguazú, which is not helpful. Is there a bus going from Foz to the Argentinian side of the waterfalls?
Going to IGU is at least three days, flights depart and arrive at terrible times. You'll arrive later in the day or later in the day to miss the bus to the Argentinian side. It takes a while as you need to cross the border into Argentina. Which takes about 1 hour on a good day. You'll spend roughly 5-7 hours depending on the tour through the park. Once you leave you'll end up leaving to late to catch the last flight out of IGU. I've never been to the Brazilian side, but it doesn't take long.
