If this is your very first trip to the Islands, I'd suggest giving the Ritz on Maui a try. There are some great courses right alona Lahaina.

Thinking about it some more, I'd say it's about a draw, since both Maui and O`ahu would do well for the criteria listed. You'd get the good golf, fine dining and beautiful sights on both islands... and since both hotels suggested are pretty far from the major hussle and bussle of city life, you have a draw there too. The only thing that would tip the scale one way is the museums. O`ahu has far more of those as well as historical sights...
