Pretty sure this will mainly be for O&D traffic.
NZ already runs direct/non-stop service to HKG (not to mention the alliance/tie-up with CX)
TG already runs direct/non-stop service to BKK (as far as *A goes)
Market to Europe is already ultra competitive, doubt this will really be an option for European connections, at the moment you got SQ via SIN, CA via PVG or PEK, and of course NZ's own services via LAX.

Definitely the positive being a direct *A service/connection between NZ and Taiwan.
