I think if there was not sufficient F&B loaded, they would not sell the J upgrade to pax via the online system. The kind of scenario where you get a Y meal in J would only apply to friends and family upgraded for free on board - or an operational upgrade.
For the catering, I was not talking about upgrades purchased at OLCI or at airport check-in, but about upgrades done on-board. If they have not catered some extra meals, it’s too late to request some more to the catering company.
