The earnings table on United's website talks about best and smart fares but makes a difference in discount and deep discount smart fares. I wonder if those deep discount smart fares are maybe the basic fares? Only A, P, U, Z are listed as not earning anything.
The problem is that the Eurowings site does not give any fare code at the time of booking. It only lists the amount of Boomerang club miles that will be earned.
