The one train trip we have enjoyed the most to date was the Peru Rail from Cusco to Lake Titicaca - slow train, speed 40km/hr, almost 12 hours train trip but the service was outstanding, the seats were comfortable, and the sceneries were varied and beautiful. Would love to do it again, but not sure about the high altitude problems.
