I am curious if perhaps an Israel insider here on the boards might be able to give more information about the process or what would happen in the case of not complying. Being booted from a domestic flight is still that, but if it's an international flight... you are basically stuck if they don't give you permission to fly!
Usually they will search your email/facebook for keywords such as Israel, BDS(boycott), to look for any anti-Israel material. From this, they have banned people from entering the country, or "asked" them to leave since you were arriving on a domestic flight. They could also be looking for anything having to do with drug purchasing or smuggling. You can only imagine what others of different backgrounds go through when trying to enter Israel.
