We looked into that. There was a group of Portuguese travelers who went that route, but the taxi driver said it's still a 35-45 minute drive, and the cost, in my opinion was too steep. The rush also defeated the point of the lake walk, which was meant to be a relaxing stroll. We will just have to go to Nikko again when we make another trip to Japan. Hopefully by then the temple renovations will be completed.
